Bass – Butch Warren
Drums – Frankie Dunlop
Piano – Thelonious Monk
Tenor Saxophone – Charlie Rouse

Thelonious Monk's classic quartet featured two DC natives: bassist Butch Warren and the commanding tenor saxophonist Charlie Rouse. These recordings from a 1963 tour of Japan went unreleased for 10 years, by which time Monk's cutting edge originals had taken their place beside the standards his quartet also catered so skillfully. Classic on the one hand, but somehow never heard before or since on the other.
