Descended from the cultural mecca of prosperous, progressive Black DC, and born of the heady early days of DC home rule, now a vital reminder of that vision we once shared with the world.
Black Fire Records—like its founder, DC native, Navy veteran, and WHUR radio personality Jimmy Gray—was and is dedicated to boundary-pushing, spiritual, afrocentric jazz and uplifting street symphonies for a new age.
