It's not uncommon for DC-area talents to make the trek up I-95 to jump-start their recording careers, whether in Philly, New York, or New Jersey. However, not many made the trip aboard a Federal Bureau of Prisons bus headed to Rahway State Penitentiary, as members of the Escorts did.
The story of producer George Kerr's persistence and creativity in recording and producing this debut LP is an epic tale in itself, beginning with his discovery of the group at a prison talent show. The group continued to record after members were released, with some even returning to the prison to record a follow-up LP with their still-incarcerated bandmates the following year.
