Trumpeter Malachi Thompson was a child of 1960s Chicago, with its fervent movements in free jazz and artistic liberation. In the 1970s he was a maven of the New York loft jazz scene. In the mid-1980s he re-located to DC, formed Africa Brass, and continued his performing and recording careers. "Seventh Son" is his 1980 debut LP as a bandleader, here re-issued for the first time.
