One of four incredible studio albums recorded by the legendary trumpeter and composer during his mid-70s "Black Byrd" period, which coincided with his tenure as a music professor at DC's Howard University.
Byrd not only clearly soaked up the vibes of the local jazz and funk scenes in that brief time, but just as certainly left an indelible mark on those scenes. Beyond masterminding the groups of Howard music students who would become known around the world as The Blackbyrds and The 3 Pieces, Byrd's fusion of jazz, funk, and disco most certainly helped give birth to DC's "official" music, Go-Go.
