Links was a rare artist-run Jamaican label in 1967 and 1968. It provided a brief refuge, but an enduring example, for artists weary of the island's exploitative studio cartels. Some of the biggest stars of the rock steady era recorded there, including Ken Boothe, The Gaylads, Delroy Wilson, and the Melodians. 5-10 years after links' demise, while all of those performers were still stars on the global scene, self-publishing by reggae artists had become commonplace.
