The LP that made two enduring stars: a shy Jamaican singer named Susan Cadogan, and a humble Jamaican recording studio known as the Black Ark.

Susan Cadogan’s self-titled album first saw issue in Jamaica as ‘Sexy Suzie’ in 1975, but was subsequently repackaged by Trojan Records in the wake of her monster UK hit, ‘Hurt So Good’.

The LP promptly became one of the company’s best selling LPs and in so doing paved the way for the Lovers Rock revolution that followed soon after.

Though it was not as successful at the time, the brilliant LP To Love Somebody by Bunny Scott (a.k.a. Bunny Rugs) is a perfect companion piece, recorded around the same time and in much the same vein, featuring the same sparkling Black Ark production and gorgeous reggae arrangements of hit pop and soul songs. Rugs and Cadogan even perform "Shame" as a duet on Susan's LP.
