The second Bob Marley & The Wailers LP recorded and released with the backing of a major worldwide record label, and the last to feature the original members of the Wailers trio, Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh.
Tosh memorably takes the lead on the anthems "Get Up, Stand Up" and "One Foundation", and Bunny Wailer brings the house down leading the spirituals "Hallelujah Time" and "Pass It On".
"Duppy Conqueror", "Small Axe", and "Put It On" are re-recordings of the trio's hits during its partnership with Lee Perry, "Put It On" also having enjoyed an even earlier life as one of the trio's hits of the ska period.
Those cuts and the remainder of the LP represent some of the best of the group's--or anybody's--deep roots music. If this was to be the last of the trio's recordings as a group, it is suitably outstanding.
