One of the handful of electrifying funk-fusion releases from Donald Byrd during his DC period, when he was both teaching at Howard University and mentoring the musical prodigies who would form 3 Pieces and the Blackbyrds

Byrd's adventures at Howard lasted just three or four years, but the mutual and lasting influence between Byrd and the local music scene are clear to the ears. Highbrow musicianship crossed with funk vibes gave us urban symphonies like "Street Lady", and also midwifed the regional Spiritual Jazz movement and eventually the Go-Go sound.
