Known among professional guitarists as "The Humbler" for his otherworldly skill and flair on the Telecaster. Danny Gatton grew up on Elmira Street SE, in what would later become DC's Ward 8. The area had been known for centuries as the "Anacostia Delta", also a handy moniker for Gatton's brand of free-form electrified Americana, which like so much of DC's music defied easy industry categorization and was denied widespread commercial success.
